Built by Village Builders in 2001-2002, most of the approximately 3000 square foot residences are 2 story traditional homes with spectacular oversized lots. Some even include saltwater pools. Village Builders paid special attention to custom upgrades and impeccable detailing with crown molding throughout, large bay windows, huge island kitchens with granite counter tops and dramatic winding staircases.

Homes in Chantsong are priced in the $500K’s. In the past year only one home was listed and sold after only 6 days on the market. The neighborhood is stable and rarely do families move out of this peaceful atmosphere. Currently only one home is listed on the market for $519K at $146.32 per square foot.

Laura and her family moved to the Chantsong neighborhood in June of 2002. What attracted them to this neighborhood was the Village floor plan. The criteria that best met her needs is the large spacious kitchen, extra long dining room and his and her closets. Education for her children is of utmost importance.

Prior to moving to The Woodlands, Laura’s children attended private school in Southwest Houston. They

have been extremely pleased with the quality schools in The Woodlands. Laura has served on the PTO at Coulson Tough Elementary since its inception. Parents are always invited to participate and volunteer as little or as much as they desire.  Lastly, Laura is thrilled with the fact that two grocery stores, Kroger and HEB are located close by.

Looking to the future, Laura and her family would consider moving to the adjacently located gated community of Carlton Woods. A larger older home in the Flintridge corridor is also a possibility for their family as long as their children continue attending schools that feed into The Woodlands High School with all of their friends.

A neighbor of Laura’s stopped by to drop off some mail that was accidentally delivered to his mailbox. So I jumped on the opportunity to get his opinion of the Changsong neighborhood as well. Although all of his kids are grown and out of the house he agrees that the neighborhood watches out for each other. There is an email communication system that he set up for the neighbors whereby one can volunteer to pick up newspapers or feed the family fish when a family is out of town for a few days.

Laura’s only wish for the neighborhood is that there was another entrance to the neighborhood present as it gets a little congested once in a while. Charles disagreed. He believes that if another entrance is added it will increase the traffic.

As I wrapped up the interviews, both Laura and Charles agreed that Chantsong has been a wonderfully quiet and peaceful neighborhood full of neighbors that genuinely care about one another.
